The Embassy of The Bahamas to the Kingdom of Belgium is pleased to announce the Ocean Frontier Institute’s (OFI) International Visiting Fellowships, a significant opportunity for highly-qualified Bahamian researchers. This initiative aligns with the Embassy’s commitment to fostering academic and research excellence.

The OFI is inviting applications for its third round of International Visiting Fellowships, designed for researchers dedicated to conducting innovative, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research. Successful fellows will spend two weeks to four months at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, or at Memorial University in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The fellowship includes travel reimbursement up to $4,000 (CAD) per month.

Key details about the fellowship program, eligibility criteria, and the application process can be found on the Ocean Frontier Institute website. Applications, along with references, are due by January 15, 2024, and should be submitted via email to ofi@dal.ca and ofi@mun.ca.

The OFI Visiting Fellowship Program provides a platform for scholarly knowledge exchange and collaboration among research colleagues, aiming to produce research outcomes that positively impact ocean usage and management. Researchers can participate as incoming or outgoing visiting fellows, with opportunities to engage in various activities, including joint research, proposal writing, thesis co-supervision, and mentoring.

For more information, prospective applicants are encouraged to visit the OFI’s website and explore the diverse areas of work available, such as independent research activities, collaborative projects, and participation in educational programs.

The Embassy of The Bahamas sees this fellowship as an exciting avenue for Bahamian researchers to contribute to global ocean knowledge. We encourage eligible individuals to seize this opportunity, fostering new linkages and promoting the exchange of expertise.
