OACPS SIDS Forum Chair Ambassador Cheryl Bazard meets with French Ministry officials in Paris to discuss initiatives on ocean governance, maritime security, and sustainable development cooperation.

Today, the Chair of the OACPS SIDS Forum Ambassador Cheryl Bazard arrived in Paris, France, fulfilling a key role under the Revised Georgetown Agreement aimed at addressing the unique vulnerabilities of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) for sustainable development. They met with Mr. Olivier Jacob, Préfet and Director General of Overseas France at the French Ministry of the Interior and the Outre-Mer.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss OACPS initiatives and explore potential cooperation in ocean governance, maritime security, fisheries, and other blue economy sectors with EU-OCTs (Overseas Countries and Territories). Joining Ambassador Bazard was the Ambassador of Mauritius, facilitating in-depth discussions that emphasized the importance of collaboration in these critical areas.

The discussions underscored the commitment to fostering partnerships that promote sustainable development and address the specific challenges faced by SIDS within the OACPS framework.
