The Caribbean Group of Ambassadors visited Antwerp’s Diamond Quarter, gaining valuable insights into the global diamond trade, where 84% of the world’s rough diamonds pass through, thanks to the efforts of Steve Knowles and Ambassador Colin Connelly.
The Caribbean Group of Ambassadors (CGAB) recently visited the Diamond Quarter, known as diamantkwartier, in Antwerp, Belgium. This vibrant district is renowned for its diamond trade, with an impressive 84% of the world’s rough diamonds passing through this historic city. Annually, about 50% of rough diamonds are sent back to Antwerp for expert cutting and polishing.
During the visit, the Ambassadors had the unique opportunity to engage in a hands-on experience, gaining insights into the intricate processes that define the diamond industry. The visit was both enriching and educational, allowing the diplomats to appreciate the significance of Antwerp in the global diamond market.
