Press Release

Belgium celebrates its National Day with a Te Deum at the Cathédrale des Saints Michel et Gudule, attended by King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, followed by a reception at the Palais d’Egmont where Minister of Foreign Affairs Hadja Lahbib delivered remarks.

Today marks the National Day (Fête nationale/Nationale Feestdag) of the Kingdom of Belgium, a day to honor the country’s history, culture, and values. In celebration of this occasion, Ambassador Bazard was honored to attend the Te Deum at the Cathédrale des Saints Michel et Gudule this morning, accompanied by Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde.

The Te Deum, a traditional ceremony, took place at the historic cathedral, where the royal couple, accompanied by other dignitaries and guests, participated in a moment of prayer and reflection, giving thanks for the blessings and prosperity of the Belgian people.

Following the Te Deum, a reception was held at the Palais d’Egmont, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Belgium. The event was attended by Ambassador Bazard, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hadja Lahbib, who delivered remarks to the gathered guests.

The National Day celebrations are a testament to the Belgian people’s pride and appreciation for their rich heritage and cultural identity. As a diplomatic community, the event provided an opportunity for ambassadors, diplomats, and representatives to come together and strengthen ties between their respective countries and Belgium.
