Today, H.E. Cheryl Bazard, KC, Ambassador of The Bahamas to the Kingdom of Belgium, delivered an address at The UCLA Law Promise Institute Europe Conference, co-sponsored by the University of Amsterdam School of Law. The conference took place at the Hotel Arena in Amsterdam, where Ambassador Bazard chaired the panel titled “The ICJ Advisory Opinion on Climate Change: Evidence, State Responsibility, and the Voices of the Most Vulnerable.”

Ambassador Bazard called on States and organizations to submit robust, justice-focused written comments. She also emphasized the critical need for climate justice and the importance of addressing the global climate crisis with a focus on equity and fairness.

“The climate crisis is an urgent issue that affects us all, but its impacts are disproportionately felt by the most vulnerable communities,” stated Ambassador Bazard. “It is imperative that States and organizations submit comments that reflect the need for justice and equitable solutions.”
